Introduction
SweatCount (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the SweatCount iOS application.
Information We Access
Health Data (Read-Only)
SweatCount reads your health and fitness data directly from Apple Health (HealthKit) with your explicit permission. We do not collect, copy, or store this data — it remains in Apple Health on your device.
The app reads the following data types:
Workout data:
- Workout type (e.g., running, cycling, strength training)
- Workout duration
- Workout date and time
- Calories burned (active and basal energy)
- Distance (walking, running, cycling, swimming)
Activity & fitness metrics:
- Heart rate (for workout insights and trends)
- Daily step count
- Flights of stairs climbed
- Swimming stroke count
- Standing time
- Move time
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do NOT collect any personal identifying information
- We do NOT collect your name, email, or contact information
- We do NOT track your location
- We do NOT use cookies or tracking technologies
- We do NOT collect data for advertising purposes
How We Use Your Data
Your health data is used exclusively to:
- Display your workout history in the app
- Calculate statistics (weekly totals, streaks, averages)
- Show your progress toward fitness goals
- Display achievements and milestones
All data processing happens locally on your device. Your workout data never leaves your iPhone.
Background Data Access
SweatCount may receive workout updates in the background (when you're not actively using the app) to provide timely notifications about your fitness progress. This background processing:
- Occurs entirely on your device
- Only detects when new workouts are logged
- Is used solely for local notifications (e.g., “Goal achieved!” or “New workout logged”)
- Does not transmit any data to external servers
You can disable notifications in iOS Settings if you prefer not to receive background updates.
Data Storage
- Your health data is stored in Apple Health on your device
- SweatCount reads this data with your permission
- We do NOT upload or transmit your data to external servers
- We do NOT store your data on cloud servers
- App preferences (like weekly goals) are stored locally on your device
- Widget data (workout counts, streaks) is shared between the app and widgets using a secure on-device container — this data never leaves your device
Data Sharing
We do NOT share, sell, rent, or trade your health data with anyone. Period.
Third-Party Services
Analytics (TelemetryDeck)
We use the privacy-friendly analytics service TelemetryDeck (provider: TelemetryDeck GmbH, Von-der-Tann-Str. 54, 86159 Augsburg, Germany) to analyze app usage. The use is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR, as we require reliable and efficient tools for collecting app usage data in order to improve the app.
What data is collected:
- An anonymized, untraceable user ID (per app installation)
- Actions defined by us (e.g., “screen viewed”, “feature used”)
- A rounded timestamp (to the nearest hour)
- Device metadata (e.g., iOS version, app version, device type)
- Additional metadata (e.g., workout count, notification settings)
What is NOT stored:
- No IP addresses (not in logs, not in the database)
- No cookies or tracking technologies
- No persistent identifiers that could be traced back to individuals
The data processed by TelemetryDeck is completely anonymized and does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about personal information. TelemetryDeck does not have access to your health data.
The TelemetryDeck SDK is open source: github.com/TelemetryDeck

Analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog for anonymous, privacy-first analytics to understand how users interact with the app. PostHog is hosted in the EU and configured in fully anonymous mode.
What is collected:
- Anonymous session identifiers (auto-generated per installation)
- App events: navigation, settings changes, notification interactions
- Aggregated workout statistics (total counts only, not individual workouts)
- Device metadata (iOS version, app version)
What is NOT collected:
- No personal identifying information
- No health/fitness data details
- No cookies or persistent tracking
- No user profiles linked to real identity (anonymous device UUID only)
Configuration: PostHog uses anonymous person profiles identified by a random device UUID with no link to real identity (personProfiles = .identifiedOnly), requiring no user consent under GDPR. PostHog does not have access to your health data.
